In the spirit of confessions, let me express that I believe that high school is the first time in an individual's life in which he or she experiences life and emotion to such an heightened degree. It is the first time we will ever be this conflicted, this alive: high school is a paradox, a constant contradiction.
There's all this talk about finding "the one", but we have no idea what love even is. There's feigned heartbreak and true heartache. We fall in and out of love faster than the seasons. We're uncertain, but so sure. We are so stressed, so worried, so concerned with our present and futures, living in constant fear, but this is the simplest life ever will be.
We all are searching for something that feels just out of reach, the metaphorical green light that is intangible.
These experiences will not stop in college, or graduate school, or at our first job, or our second. From now until the time our hearts stop beating, we will be experiencing life and living it in glorious technicolor. So, to quote all teachers ever, "Please chose to be an active participant."
